House Hunting Better Today

Today the weather was AWFUL!!!!! Sand storm made it look overcast all day and cold to me. It was around 73 but that is cool compared to what I have been used to----really had my sinus's messed up for about the first 2 hours of house hunting .

Today was much better in the house hunting area. I saw four that I really liked. Two were in compounds which I didn't think I would like but they are in small compounds with only like 6 houses. Only one does not have a private pool but it has a private entrance to the compound pool(it is the compound owner's house) --2 have hot tubs--all are 4/5 bedrooms with attached baths----down side only 1 has a great kitchen. Bill is going tomorrow to look so we should be making a decision this weekend (Friday-Saturday is the weekend here). I think that I have a favorite but really want Bill to help in the decision. One problem is the furniture----we have some but not enough to furnish a house. One of the four is fully furnished. They have said I could pick out furniture and ask the owner to purchase and add the amount to the rent . It might make the price out of our range but we can only submit an offer and see what they say. I am really getting into this now----first day the picking were pretty slim---I did see three I would like Bill to look at so right now we have 7 on our "short" list which is really too long----I know but I have so many "wants". I know that I have to adjust that so we will see. Bill's weekend is Thursday/Friday to we will look around then and discuss.

Today was mine and Bill's 32nd anniversary. We didn't do much just went down for a light dinner and have decided to wait until we know the city better before we have our anniversary dinner.

We are looking at trying to get me a car. I can drive here but the company only provides one car and Bill drives into Saudi everyday for work----it is not like in India were I could have the car all day while he was at work. Taxis are very expensive here not like SIngapore at all. We are not wanting to buy a car but think that renting is about $900 USD a month----not really something that we want to do.

Taking the day to go to the mall to look at furniture just to get an idea of the cost---maybe someone can tell me cheaper place to get furniture but right now I need to get idea of style so I can go from there.

Enough rambling ........
Take care

House Hunting IN Bahrain

Hi. I went house hunting yesterday. It was very interesting to say the least. I did not find any that I could not just live without. I really would like a pool this time around. I know that is silly but I have one at home and would like to have one here. It was always on my list in India and I never got one but this time I really am trying to find one. Another of my wants is a nice kitchen. It seems all the houses here that I have been shown have small wet bar kitchen in the house with a much nicer kitchen OUTSIDE---yes actually you leave the house and go into an outside room that is the kitchen. This is for people I am sure that have cooks. I want to do my own cooking ----unless I could find another Anu. I did see one that a a decent kitchen inside but it had 6 bedroom and 7 baths-----think it is a bit large for us. I will go again today and look some more. The realtor keeps bringing up the beach houses----they are located on a small island about 1 hour from the causeway that goes to Saudi. Meaning Bill would have to leave around 4:30 instead of 5:30-----don't think it would be wise to do that but a house on the beach does sound nice---- I will try to take come pictures today.

Another thing I wanted to post was that Bill and I saw the twin towers here that have the turbines between them. We are living close to them now and we have yet to see the turbines turn. We had watched a documentary on them with Brendon while in Singapore. Really thought that is was neat and wanted to see this . Maybe we will see them turn before long.

Take care

Arrival in Bahrain

We arrived here last night. We were met at the airport by Jim and Sandi. They helped us rent a car and lead us to the hotel. They even brought enough groceries to get us started. This was a very pleasant surprise. Today after unpacking the suitcases we took a short trip around the area. We saw a couple of supermarkets and then Bill got a call for a short introduction meeting back at the hotel. I dropped him off and went back to one of the supermarkets to pick up a couple of things we had forgotten to bring and to take a look around to see what all they had. We will be okay here. They seem to have everything. Things are expensive here but have not quite gotten the hang of the new money exchange to I will have to let you all know how expensive when I do. Better run. Bill getting out of meeting and I need to see what is next. It is 18:30 now so need to decide time difference. Take care.
